Lindsay and Steve | Hitched on Gun Lake

Lindsay and Steve got married on what had to be one of the hottest days of the year.  I had no idea that July would get infinitely hotter, but that’s a story for another post.  As sweltering as their big day was, it was equally gorgeous.  The ceremony and reception were held on Gun Lake, which was a special place for Steve and his family.  How awesome to include some personal family history on such an important day!  And what a gorgeous location… the perfect place to celebrate on a warm summer day.  Lindsay and Steve penned their own vows and recited them in front of their closest loved ones on a lake where Steve grew up.  I’m so humbled by my couples who write their own vows- it’s something so amazing to witness.  And let me say, if you are considering writing your own- do it.  It’s maybe a bit tempting to head for the pre-written stuff, but how awesome to stand before your partner in life and tell them everything they mean to you.  There’s nothing more beautiful.  Afterward, Lindsay and Steve kicked off their celebration with a tour of the lake by pontoon.  It was truly an unforgettable day and I’m so happy to have been a part of it.

Without further delay, my favorites in a slideshow.  Enjoy!

How did you meet :: We met at a friends cottage in Houghton Lake where we named each other King and Queen of Houghton Lake. :D
Date engaged :: October 24, 2010
Favorite part of the day :: Exchange of our personal vows- hearing each others’ for the first time.
Funniest thing that happened :: Lindsay placed Steve’s wedding band on the wrong hand because she was so nervous.
Favorite detail ::  The personalizations were favorites… writing our own vows, having it on Gun Lake (where Steve grew up) and having only our best friends and closest family there.  There were also fireworks over the lake that night!
Best investment :: The pontoon.  The bridal party took a cruise on it during cocktail hour and our guests sat on it all through the night and watched fireworks on it.
